2010 WI Plumbing Code Changes

Effective January 1, 2011


The WI Plumbing Code (Comm 81-87) which was last updated in December 2004 has had some MAJOR revisions.  These revisions take effect January 1, 2011.  Be sure to review these changes closely.  PLEASE NOTE:  These changes have NOT yet been incorporated into the code text on the internet.  It is important that you use the link below to read and print the changes.

Highlights of this comprehensive code change include:

  1. Changing the number of fixtures required to obtain State of WI approval, from 16 down to 11, in public buildings.
  2. Adding the requirement of continuing education every 4 years for certified Cross Connection Control Testers.
  3. Definitions, both new and recreated, for Plumbing, Offset, Branch Interval, and others.
  4. Complete re-wording of private sanitary and water main separation distances.
  5. Changes to accommodate special or mixed wastewater re-use.
